Phone Brand
Does it matter which brand I buy to replace the landline phone that I use with xFinity? (The one I'm thinking about buying is ATT which is a landline provider in this area; would that be an issue?)

The brand name on the phone doesn't matter. Any touch-tone wired or cordless phone that works with a conventional POTS ("Plain Old Telephone Service") line should work with Comcast's home phone service.
Avoid the devices listed on https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/incompatible-equipment-phone.
