Number Won’t Port During Move

I moved over the summer and my number I’ve had for 15 years ported fine.

 I just moved again two weeks ago in the same area and support is saying it cannot be ported.  There has to be a way,l.  If I had moved providers I could have ported off xfinity, why can’t they port it within their own system?
