No dial tone

I just got an xfinity gateway and installed internet and voice. I get no dial tone on the phone. Rebooted, wired directly into the modem. Nothing works. Please help.

Hi there! Thank you for reaching out. Are you still experiencing issues at this time? Did you recently upgrade your modem or make a plan change? Are you connecting the modem on the same outlet?

I still have no dial tone. I had been using my own modem for years and yes just upgraded to an xfinity gateway. My gateway is connected to the wall and the phone is connected directly to the gateway. My internet works just fine, but my phone does not have a dial tone.
