New customer supplied modem - need to activate phone line

I just installed a new customer supplied modem (NETGEAR CM2050V) and the internet works fine but Voice is not working. I have connected the phone line but have no service. I am seeing online that I need to "register" the phone line with the new modem. Can you please advise how to do so. Thank you.

Unfortunately not...was hoping someone on the forum may have an idea. If not, I will try to handle with Xfinity directly when I return the old Gateway to the brick and mortar store...

put in new modem and install of new home phone no dial tone can be heard

A tech came yesterday and after an hour of back and forth with tech support we discovered that the original customer service agent chose the wrong modem in the system. Once the proper modem was chosen, all worked as it should. It made me feel better than the tech that came was just as frustrated with XFINITY customer service as I was the previous day...
