Landline not working

I recently upgraded to the Xfinity gateway and my internet is working great but my landline has no dial tone. I have tried plugging my phone directly into the modem and it still does not work.

Hey there, @user_l0be49. There is most likely a provisioning portion that needs to be completed. If you could please send me a DM with your first and last name along with your full-service address, we can get started diving into your no dial tone issue.

To send a "Direct Message" to Xfinity Support:
Click "Sign In" if necessary
Click the "Direct Messaging" icon or https://comca.st/3EqVMu7
Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon
The "To:" line prompts you to "Type the name of a person". Instead, type "Xfinity Support" there
 - As you are typing a drop-down list appears. Select "Xfinity Support" from that list
 - An "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line
Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window
Press Enter to send it

For example, are you receiving a dial tone and have you tried any of the helpful troubleshooting steps using the Xfinity app?

Me too and cannot get a person to talk to just a virtual assistant and they know nothing

About an hour ago, after TWO WEEKS without a landline, and having checked all 12 of the cordless, and corded phones and the any phone cords, I had an epiphany… the cordless phone on the desk in the study is rarely used, and I wondered if that phone was the issue.  SO, I checked one more time for a dial tone, but it was still dead, so I took the back off, popped the rechargeable batteries out, they looked brand new, the inside was clean, so I went across the hall to the master bedroom, picked up that cordless phone and hit the speakerphone button, and POOF!  I had a dial tone!
   I’ve checked all of the other phones and they all work now. 
  I feel pretty foolish right now, BUT, on the bright side, I have a landline again!
