Is a Landline Phone Still a Good Idea
Even though just about everyone has a mobile phone, many people - including me - keep a landline phone as a backup. I'm wondering if this is still a good idea.
Originally, there were two reasons for wanting to have a backup: 1) in case mobile service went down, you would still have phone service; and 2) a landline made it easier for emergency responders to find you. However, both those reasons were based on having landline service on the 'old' copper wire network. Today, virtually all landline service - including Comcast - is VOIP, which is the same system that mobile phones use!
So is there any reason for having a landline phone today? The only reason I can think of is to make sure you have telephone service if your mobile phone is lost or damaged. Any other reason?
