Incoming calls, phone rings a five times then out to error message?

My elderly mother's Xfinity home wired phone (part of her monthly Xfinity package) does this...

When someone calls this phone,  it rings 5 times then a message comes up saying "The mailbox # that you are trying to reach is not in service", Goodbye.

My mother is 85 years old and does not have an Xfinity voice mailbox set up and does not want that.  It takes her many rings to get to her phone.  So the phone should just ring maybe 7-8 times as normal for her to pick up the phone.  It should not be cut off by an error message.

What is going on here and how can this be fixed? Please help

Thank You for help

Hello, @Danica123, thank you for taking the time to detail the issue your mom is having with her phone ringing and voicemail option. That phone service is so important for emergencies, so let's get this fixed for her together. When I was helping take care of my grandfather he had the same kind of troubles, so it's really nice that you're helping your mom out like this. I'm sure she's happy to have you in her corner like this. Please use this link as a super helpful guide that Xfinity created for customers like you that are needing to have a few extra rings: https://comca.st/3A95duh. Can you let me know if you were able to fix the issue with that link?

@XfinityMarcos

Marcos you did not read my post correctly. My mother DOES NOT have Xfinity voice answering service set up,  she has an old fashioned  voice mail recorder.   Please read my post again and read the error message that it refers to.   I strongly advised her to stay with the old Verizon hard wired phone company.  She did not listen to me and now she is paying the price  for not listening to me when she needs the phone the most.  If this were not "Bundled"  I would get rid of it in ten seconds and get the phone company back in her house.

@Danica123 it sounds as though we need to provision her line and make sure the correct number of rings are set before it goes to her voicemail. Let's further review.
