Home phone
On 6/23/25 I switched my home phone landline to Xfinity voice. Now I constantly have a stutter dial tone but there are no voice messages. I'm frustrated and don't know what to do and where to turn.
I'm using the modem supplied by Comcast. I'm not hooked up to any hard wired phone lines or jacks in the house. Just one phone cord into the back of the modem.
The phone cord is in port 1. But both ports behave the same. I'm using a cordless phone. But swapping out for an old corded phone does not help.
I have been on the phone countless times with Comcast techs. It's hard to get them to even understand the problem, let alone fix it.
On 7/7/25 a tech came to the house. He was here for 90 minutes. He swapped out the modem. That did nothing. He was on the phone with support numerous times. He had them “rebuild” the ports a couple of times. That didn’t work. I think they went down the path of doing some sort of reset on the voice mailbox. I'm not sure. But something eventually did work. The stutter went away!
Around 7/21/25 I got my Comcast bill. I was charged $100 for the service call. I'm in the process of getting that charge removed. I'm not having much luck with that. This is not “my” problem. It is entirely a Comcast problem!
Two days later a friend called me and left a voice message. I listened to the message and then deleted it. Now I have the stutter dial tone that won't go away. I'm back to square one. So frustrating!
Any ideas on what to do? I really don't have the patience to start over with tech support. That's just too hard. I was thinking of asking them to completely remove the voice mailbox, but I'm not convinced that will solve the problem. Would going into an Xfinity store be something to try? Talk to someone in person? I'm lost and frustrated
Any info or ideas would be helpful. Thanks.
