Home Phone service on separate modem?
We have Xfinity internet already. The modem and router are on the second story of our home and need to stay there as I need wired internet for work. We need to get landline phone service into our basement. The service rep I just chatted with said that to add phone service we'd need a phone-compatible modem, and claimed that we could use that modem in the basement in addition to the modem we currently have upstairs. My understanding from looking at these forums is that you cannot have 2 modems on the same account. He claimed we could if one was for phone service. Can anyone confirm whether or not that is true? And if not, any thoughts on how to get phone service into the basement without running wires from the second story? (I think we already have a cable outlet in the basement -- at least there's a connector that looks like one but I don't know if it's active.)

Hello @user_f4d54b thank you for taking the time to create this post! You are correct that we don't generally have more than one modem in the house, but there are some circumstances where a second one is necessary and we can dedicate a second modem to one line of business (LOB). I would like to take a closer look at yuor account to see how we can help you set up phone service in your basement.
