Does Comcast Offer and "Old School" Landline Option?
I live in an area of California subject to extended scheduled power shutoffs. During a shutoff, my "landline" does not work, as it requires a connection to my Xfinity modem. Does Comcast offer any option that would allow me to connect a non-powered landline phone to a phone jack, that would work during a power outage?

Do you have the battery backup option installed? comcast does not supply the battery when you get the phone service, "it is an extra charge item", unlike other cable vendors which do supply the initial battery for phone service. I am told that battery will provide ~ 8 hours of phone time in case the power goes out and if all the cable lines are still intact.

See https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/getting-a-new-battery. It's incredibly expensive ($165 ?!?!?). It would probably make more sense to purchase a UPS and use it to power your eMTA or gateway. Note that neither approach will work if any of the links connecting your home to their network are down.

Acording to this thread there was no internet service (therefore no Comcast voice service) in areas affected by the previous PG&E power outage
