Comcast Voice with analog wired phones

Hello

Looking to switch to Comcast Voice potentially. Currently have Ziply Fiber POTS.

Currently have Xfinity Internet 300. It's networked through the home with Netgear Powerline Nano 200 Ethernet adapters. We do not use Wi-Fi here.

Our Motorola MT7711 cable modem does support Comcast Voice. So I understand one can plug in an ANALOG phone directly to the back of that. But what about phones in other locations? Do not want to use cordless phones. So that is not an option.

Saw a thread about someone asking if they can use a Grandstream HT801, and that was a negative.

So -- are there any WIRED VoIP options / strategies for ANALOG phones in other locations - bedroom, office, kitchen, etc...?

Heck...are there any corded VoIP (Non-analog) phones that would work? Don't have any experience with this at home.

Since you don't want to use wireless phones, you'll need wired phone jacks. If you have exiting jacks, use them. If not, you'll have to add them. Make sure the wall jacks are not already connected to a previous provider's network. And then connect a 4-conductor modular base cord between the TEL1 MT7711 jack and a wall jack should, if the wiring was done in the usual way, energize the remaining jacks in your home.

Any touch-tone wired or cordless phone that works with a conventional analog "Plain Old Telephone Service" (POTS) line should work with Comcast's home phone service. Avoid the devices listed on https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/incompatible-equipment-phone. Dial (pulse) phones will be able to receive calls but won't be able to make them. Ethernet connected VoIP phones won't work with Comcast/Xfinity's home phone service but can be used with a 3rd party VoIP service.

thanks for your reply BruceW!

Your answer is the clearest yet.  I also found a description in the Motorola MT 7711 manual.

You can connect individual devices, or you can connect multiple devices that

plug into the same phone line. (Their Ringer Equivalence Numbers need to

add up to 5 or less.) One way to connect multiple devices is to plug the

MT7711 phone port into a jack connected to existing telephone wiring.

Before doing this, make sure to disconnect the wiring totally from the

telephone company’s network demarc. This is normally done by unplugging

a phone cord at the jack nearest to where the phone line comes into your

home. After you unplug that phone cord, check that none of the phones

on that line gets dial tone when you go off-hook. If they don’t get dial

tone, it’s safe to connect a phone cord from one of the line’s jacks to an

MT7711 phone jack. After you do that and power up the MT7711, all the

phones on that line should get dial tone.

So I put the order through for Comcast Voice. Guess I need to get a technician out to disconnect POTS from the other carrier - Ziply. Then we can see if it works. Would get a Y-splitter for where the cable modem is - as there is a phone at the desk here.

I like old / current POTS phones - they are simple.  [Have new AT&T models here -- but they are still simple] VoIP phones have complicated screens...too many bells & whistles. Reminds me of work.

If ever needed to go that route - who would be a 3rd party VoIP service? Is that like Vonage?

Vonage would be one. For more info see https://www.google.com/search?q=voip+home+phone.
