Comcast can't setup my two modems, one for data other for voice.

Before I went down this road I read many posts that state you can use two modems that you own, one for data only and the other for voice only.

Well I have gone through three agents in two nights and they cannot get my voice modem working. Both modems are Arris, data is SB8200 and voice is TM822R.

One agent claimed I could not use two of my own modems, one has to be rented he said. None of the other agents ever mentioned this and from my reading that is normally for two data modems.

I first tried a Netgear 1150 voice and data 3.1 modem but my speeds were always between 400 and 500. I then rented an X6 from Comcast and speeds went to 800 - 900 and voice was fine.

So then I ordered the two Arris modems and the 8200 is giving me max speeds but can't get voice with second.

Is there something specific I should be telling support when I call? I emphasize that the one modem is be setup for voice only and they always seem to understand me but no dice.
