Can Receive Phone Calls on Rotary Dial Phone but Cannot Dial Out
I've seen several other questions just like this, but apparently cannot add to older messages, so I'm starting a new thread. I am a 10 year comcast/xfinity customer.
I have a rotary phone, a very cool retro vintage old one. Everything works great in terms of receiveing calls, and I was told by a Xfinity employee when I called in that rotary pulse dialing should work with Xfinity Voice. However I am not able too. Straight dial tone, doesn't seem to recognize the pulses.
Elsewhere I've read @ComcastAlly on this forum that it is modem dependent. I am using my ownSVG2482AC modem. Please advise what I can expect and/or what is possible. Thanks!

Hi, so here it is many months later, and the answer is..... Comcast Voice does not support rotary (pulse) dialing any more. Apparently it did until 2015.
HOWEVER, all is not lost. Do a search online for "pulse to touch tone converter" and you will find several. I bought one called DialGizmo and it works fine. Easy to hook up between your phone and wall outlet.https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCEcCs5OVABff73G98cAtrxA?view_as=subscriber

Hey All,
THIS got my rotary phone working with a comcast modem. It was SO easy.
https://www.dialgizmo.com/
Ordered from DIALGIZMO and it took 3 weeks ($40 plus $14 in shipping form Australia)
but I plugged it into the back of my modem, and Bingo! in 3 seconds it worked.
My old rotary phone thats been hanging in my house from before I was born works again!
We can dial out on it now.
I have been searching for years! So glad I found this, and I don't work for Dialgizmo.
Perhaps the easiest installation of any technology I've ever used in my entire life. I'm so thrilled, hope you can be too!!
PS....if your rotary phone can accept calls but NOT dial out, this fixes it. It creates an electronic dial tone for each pulse dial and totally works on my comcast modem setup. I believe it works for all the lines in the house if you plug it into the back of the main modem where the phone line connects, just like I did. Best of luck and hope this helps.
