Can I port a landline number from ATT to Xfinity Voice?
And if I can, do I plug my phones into phone jacks on the new modem, or will the modem support existing phone jacks?
Thanks for your help!

You should be able to.
You can do it either way. To use the existing jacks, make sure they are disconnected from the previous provider's network (that usually means just disconnecting a plug at the network interface box). And then connect a 4-conductor modular base cord between the gateway's #1 phone jack and a wall jack. If your phone wiring is connected in the usual way, that should energize the remaining jacks in your home.
If you have a phone in the room where the gateway is located and only 1 phone jack there, you'll also need a phone wiring "Y" connector ("telephone splitter") in order to have both hooked up, something like https://www.amazon.com/Duplex-Telephone-Adapter-Splitter-Single/dp/B088Z2DFZS.

Thank you for reaching out to us here @user_pleoh9. You can port a number over to the Xfinity Voice service. There are some qualifications for that.
