Callers cannot hear me

Intermittently, when I answer the phone (Xfinity voice landline) I can hear the caller but they cannot hear me. This has happened many times, but intermittently. We’ve tried rebooting the modem, but it continues to happen. Sometimes it takes multiple calls before they can hear me, while other times if we wait long enough it will start working on the initial call. There are also times when the call will be fine for a length of time, then suddenly without warning the other person cannot hear me. In addition, the voice quality can also get garbled, occasionally.

There is new coax cable making a direct run to the modem from a single splitter at the existing service entrance on my house. The coax connections are all verified tight. This intermittent issue seemed to occur both with a rented Xfinity gateway, and now with our purchased Netgear C7100V gateway as well.

Needless to say, this is frustrating to have an unreliable landline phone. I’ll look forward to any assistance anyone can provide. Thank you.
