Modem is in basement

I am setting up a landline but my Xfinity modem is installed in the basement.  Clearly, I dont want my base phone hidden down there because I cannot use the features like answering machine etc.  Is there a workaround?

Hi there, @user_0apz2g You can absolutely set up your Xfinity landline so the base phone (including answering machine features) is on your office desk upstairs, even with your Xfinity modem located in the basement. You can Utilize the existing home phone wiring,-Richard

Connect a standard phone cord from the "Tel1" (Voice) port on the back of your Xfinity modem to any available phone jack in your basement.

You can place the base phone upstairs.

Plug the base unit of your multi-handset phone system into a phone jack in your upstairs office.
