Emergency Calls directly to voice-mail

My community issues emergency calls to residents to warn of severe weather and other important issues.  Until recently, they worked fine, in that my phone rang and if I didn't answer, the call went to voice-mail.

Starting in May, these emergency calls are going directly to voice-mail.  My phone never rings!!!

When I reported this situation to Comcast, they said that the gateway needed a software update (boot something).  The tech said that 10 minutes after our chat, the gateway would re-boot and I would receive a confirmation email.  Neither happened !!!

I finally re-booted the gateway myself.  I have no idea if the problem has been fixed.

Comcast .... why wasn't this seemingly important update done automatically?  Why didn't the tech follow-up as promised?

ThomT1 Any continuous synchronization systems like OneDrive, work in the background of the device communication through web synchronization. xFi advanced security is designed to prevent unwanted network intrusions. If xFi advanced security detects abnormal communication patterns, or synchronization of corrupted/suspicious files, it is designed to contain and prevent that system from pulling or pushing that data in or out of the LAN. You are always able to turn off the xFi advanced security feature.

To disable xFi Advanced Security, open the Xfinity app, navigate to the Security tab, select Advanced Security, and then choose "Turn Off". This will disable 24/7 risk monitoring and real-time reporting on your home network. You can also disable it through your Comcast account by logging in, clicking My Services, and changing xFi Advanced Security to Disable.

Detailed Steps:
    1. 1. Using the Xfinity App:

      • Open the Xfinity app and go to the Security tab.

      • Select Advanced Security.

      • Choose "Turn Off" to disable the feature.

  • 2. Using your Comcast Account:

  • Log in to your Comcast Xfinity account.

  • Click on My Services.

  • Locate the xFi Advanced Security option and change it to Disable.

As far as the software updates for the modem. Those updates are automatic. Xfinity modems and routers are often updated automatically, typically during off-peak hours like between 12 AM and 6 AM. These updates can include bug fixes, security patches, or even network upgrades. While there isn't a specific time for all updates, some users have reported scheduled reboots happening around 3-4 AM.
