alternatives to xfinity voice?

As a 30-year plus customer of various Comcast services, they told me I can't get voice for any less than the $44.95 monthly charge. It does work well with my security system.

I'm more inclined to stick with Xfinity internet if I can either get a  more reasonable voice price or find an alternative telco

Ooma says it will work and it's free aside from monthly taxes after an investment in equipment.

Anyone else have this issue and suggestions about xfinity voice alternatives that will have the same alarm system functionality?
