NOT xfinitys decision
Need my TV to stay ACTIVE!!
I'm really tired of the non-answer that Comcast keeps giving about this [Edited: "Language"] feature. The issue MANY of us are having is that our tv goes inactive on its own without some kind of intervention from us. All Comcast does is keep pointing out that there are two modes with the box... Power Saving mode and Nap Mode.
Let's be clear, I could get a [Edited: "Language"] what the different modes are called. I need to know how to ensure my tv doesn't go inactive in its own.
When I follow the "awesome link" given by the representatives, it takes me to a place that tells me that, regardless of what my settings are, my tv will not stay active and will automatically go inactive after 4 hours unless I intervene. Here's a portion of the link:
Your TV Box will automatically go into Nap Mode after four hours of inactivity if you do not have Power Saver on. If Power Saver mode is on, you will see an "Are You Still There?" message on your screen. If you do not respond to this message, your TV Box will go into Power Saver mode.
.
What this means is that either way, my tv will go inactive. We aren't asking customer service to DEFINE the two settings. What we are asking for is to STOP our box from automatically going inactive altogether.
This is what is infuriating. Many of us like to sleep with the tv on. Many of us want to leave the tv on during the day for our pets. Many of us want to leave the tv on as background noise while we do our day to day things around the house. We use it for our ELDERLY PARENTS...We need it to simply STAY ON.
So... HOW DO WE GET OUR BOX TO STAY ON AND NOT INACTIVATE ITSELF?!
So unless xfinity is paying my electric bill this ish NEEDS to change... I've had more problems with this new box in the 3 days I've had it than the old one

I totally get where you're coming from because I sleep with the tv on as well. My beef, though, is the daily "updates" that don't do anything that I can see. So, FWIW, as far as I know most ISP's have that "nap" thing where you have to click on "Stay Awake". [I don't WANT to stay awake, but I DO want my tv to stay awake.] I don't know of anyway to get rid of that .
