Hi @Bill881 - Looks like you contacted us via phone as well, and were able to speak with a Customer Care colleague. Based on the trouble-shooting you did on that call, it was determined that this issue is related to your television set. Once you're able to get the on/off function working on your TV using your TV remote, I believe your Xfinity remote will be able to also turn your TV on/off. If that's not the case, please let us know. Thank you.
