payment requests
I keep getting constant requests to update my payment method and a button to click - because my payment method has been declined. however, my payment is not even due until the 20th of September. The emails do not use my name further drawing suspicions these emails is not from xfinity, but xfinity doesn't. Now I'm thinking the xfinity email servers have been hacked. I always log online and there are no requests for payment or that my method has been declined. Either that or they are scouring the webpage for email entries. The emails look no different from the original xfinity emails, copy and paste maybe?
Last month I ignored these payment update request and my account was auto paid and is still active. Also, I read through one of the official emails and it said 'be vigilant against fake payment requests.' This is madness. I hope xfinity will update their policy when there is a payment issues such as 'your card ending in 6545 has declined payment of '33.45' for Sept 17th' please log on to your account online to update your account. Official xfinity emails never include links or buttons to update your account. You must log online. So users, when they read the email, they already know if the numbers are correct, because they know their card number (or they can check), the fixed pay date and pay amount. And they do not have to click a fraudulent link or button in the email, that a hacker can use to misdirect people to a fake site to milk their credit cards. And the infamous twist, keep rejecting the cards so users will log in all the cards they have.
So if emails have no links or button to click, it's most likely not fake. If it has links/buttons it's NOT xfinity, it's unscrupulous actors trying to drain your credit card. And they start with 'Our official emails will never include any buttons or links to update your account or payment methods. Please visit our website to do so.'
It is incumbent upon xfinity to protect its users and help prevent scams and introduce strong business policies that will do so.

If you check your email with Comcast's Xfinity Connect webmail ( https://connect.xfinity.com/ ), look for the XFINITY Verified Email logo next to any message that claims to be from Comcast/Xfinity. Note that anyone can insert an XFINITY Verified image in the body of an email, so it's important to note not only the presence of that image, but that it is in the correct locations:
See https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/comcast-verified-email for examples of valid logo placement. A logo in the body of the email does not count.
If the logo is missing when you view the message in webmail, the message is not from Comcast. Unfortunately, AFAIK the logo is not present when you view one of their messages in an email app or program. It's only visible when you use their web email site.
Samples of recent phishing messages can be found at https://internetsecurity.xfinity.com/help/alerts under "Top Phishing Scams".
To report a scam email to Comcast, follow the "Report Spam and Phishing Emails" link on https://internetsecurity.xfinity.com/help/report-abuse and scroll down to the "Report Phishing Emails" section.
