MY REMOTE DOESNT WORK OR PAIR WITH VOLUME

Like everything I have read, I cannot get my remote to pair for anything with volume or power. I have tried everything comcast says to do. Help

How did you fix this?? Mine is doing  the same thing and I'm about to throw it at the wall.
