Flex Streaming Box Brightness Auto-Adjusts

When streaming any app, the flex box video display auto-adjusts and is to dark to see. This does not occur on the home screen or when browsing an app, only when a show is playing. It will start out bright but on the first dark scene it will adjust on its own and is to dark to see. I've used the Xfinity App chat and they updated the flex box software. This resolved the issue for the rest of that movie, but the problem occurred again the next day. I've restarted the device and this was resolving the issue for the rest of that day, bit always comes back the next day. Restarting no longer helps and I can't figure out how to fix it.
