Xfinity comcast.net emails transition to Yahoo

Is there any way to tell when your email is set for this transition? Can we do this on our own prior to reciving the email notice?  I have had this emial for over 20 years and do not like the idea of giving it up and having to go through the process of setting up a new one for all my contact, billings, etc.

Thank you

As this transition continues in to 2026 there is no way of telling when you will receive that email.  Just keep checking is all we can say.

How will we access our comcast.net email once the transfer is made to yahoo?

Official Employee

Great question, @cjg1013! Here is a summary of how it will work:

1. The Migration Process

- We are migrating active comcast.net email accounts to Yahoo Mail in a phased approach that began in June 2025 and will continue through 2026.

- You will be notified by email, SMS, or in the Xfinity app when your account is ready to be moved.

- To complete the transfer, you must accept Yahoo's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. This step is what officially makes Yahoo your email provider.

- You will have 120 days to accept the terms. If you don't accept within 30 days of receiving the notification, you will lose access to your email until you do so.

2. Accessing Your Email After the Transfer

- Once you accept the terms, you will no longer be able to access your email through the Xfinity Email platform.

- You will access your email through the Yahoo Mail platform, either by:

Visiting the Yahoo Mail website.

Using the Yahoo Mail app.

Accessing your email through a third-party email client (like Outlook, Apple Mail, or Thunderbird).

3. What You Will Keep

- You will keep your existing @comcast.net email address.

- Most of your emails, folders, and contacts will be migrated to your new Yahoo Mail account. There are some limitations:

Emails with attachments larger than 25 MB will not be moved. You will be notified and have 30 days to download them before they are deleted.

Yahoo can only migrate up to 4,100 folders and 10,000 contacts. Anything beyond this will be consolidated or lost.

User-created folders with names that match Yahoo system folders (e.g., "Sent," "Drafts") will be renamed.

4. What Will Change

- Your email will be handled by Yahoo's infrastructure, which means their spam filters and security protocols will apply.

- Any email forwarding or filter settings you had in your Xfinity account will not be moved. You will need to set them up again in Yahoo Mail.

- If you use a third-party email client, you will need to update the server settings to reflect the new Yahoo Mail settings.

Please let us know if this helps! Our team remains here, awesome to work with because we'll always do whatever we can to provide the answers you need :)

Will Comcast support provide human "support" if we have problems using or getting our mail from Yahoo.  I dumped Verizon when they moved my email and told me yahoo would only support me via text unless I subscribed to some support service for $$$.  So how many support people is Comcast laying off w this move?

Again today both my wife and I can not login via Outlook and get our Comcast mail.  My password and server settings are correct.  Why is this happening more and more..don't tell me it is an Outlook problem as all my other mail has worked flawlessly.

Thanks for reaching out to u, s we apologize for any inconvenience you're having. Once your e-mail transitions https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/yahoo-email-migration-overview  to Yahoo, you would have to reach out to Yahoo support for any issues with your e-mail.

This link https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/third-party-email-access has great information on how to access your e-mail through a third party e-mail client.

To clarify can you access your e-mail via https://login.xfinity.com/login  or by jumping on the xfinity app and going to the search button and typing in “email”  which should list a drop down section that says “go to my email inbox”?

Those emails you've been getting are phishing emails.  Unless you see the verified logo in webmail, you can count on those kinds of emails being spam.

Several questions which I am not sure was answered as I scrolled through:

* other then using the APP (which I do not use because of issues and long delays) how will I know that the email about accepting the Yahoo account was sent?

* if sent and it reached the 30 days how will I be able to get the link (assuming it is a link that need to be visited to accept the T&C of Yahoo)?

* will the T&C need to be accepted for every email or just for the account?

* once the transition happens will the emails addresses not longer be associated with Comcast account?

*** if service with Comcast is terminated will the emails still be intact and usable?

* once the transition happens how would the log in to the Yahoo server be done?

*** would I have to create an account or will the Comcast credentials be transferred to Yahoo?

*** will each email address have to have a separate Yahoo login/account or can it be done based on a single Yahoo account?

*** will all email  address be managed under the single Yahoo account?

* where will the instructions be for setting up outlook or thunderbird email applications to access the Yahoo servers be located?

As mentioned several times and being a security engineer, unverified or unexpected emails are quickly deleted based on getting many spammed emails claiming to be from Comcast/Xfinity.

Thank you for addressing all of the above.

@lexubw - Great questions! Based on the information available to us, here are the answers to your questions about our transition to Yahoo Mail:

- How will I know that the email about accepting the Yahoo account was sent?
We will notify you 30 days in advance of your account's scheduled transition. You will receive an email from us. We may also send an SMS reminder and a notification through the Xfinity app.

- If the email about the 30-day deadline is sent, and I miss it, how can I get the link?
The prompt to accept the terms will appear when you try to access your email. If you don't accept the terms within the first 30 days after the initial notification, you will lose access to your email until you accept them and complete the move to Yahoo Mail. You have 120 days in total from the time the terms are made available to accept them and migrate your account.

- Will the T&C need to be accepted for every email or just for the account?
You will need to accept Yahoo's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy for each individual comcast.net email address you want to move.

- Once the transition happens, will the email addresses no longer be associated with the Comcast account?
Your comcast.net email address will remain the same, but the backend infrastructure will be hosted by Yahoo. This means that while the address itself is associated with your Comcast account, the email service will be provided by Yahoo.

- If service with Comcast is terminated, will the emails still be intact and usable?
This is a critical point. Currently, if you are a former Xfinity customer, and you logged into your email account within the 90 days prior to disconnecting service, you can still use your comcast.net email address as long as you access it at least once every nine months. However, the migration to Yahoo may change this. The new arrangement means your email service will be managed by Yahoo, not Comcast. The documentation implies that once you accept the Yahoo terms, your email account is fully on the Yahoo platform.

- Once the transition happens, how would the log in to the Yahoo server be done?

1. Would I have to create an account or will the Comcast credentials be transferred to Yahoo?
You will use your existing Comcast.net credentials (email address and password) to log in to Yahoo Mail. You will be prompted to accept the Yahoo terms of service and privacy policy after signing in with these credentials.

2. Will each email address have to have a separate Yahoo login/account, or can it be done based on a single Yahoo account?
Each comcast.net email address will be migrated individually and will function as a separate Yahoo account.

3. Will all email addresses be managed under a single Yahoo account?
No, each email address will be a separate entity on the Yahoo platform, and you will need to manage them individually.

- Where will the instructions for setting up Outlook or Thunderbird to access the Yahoo servers be located?
After the transition, you will need to update the server settings in your third-party email clients (like Outlook or Thunderbird) to reflect Yahoo's settings. You can find instructions on the Yahoo Mail support site. Microsoft's support page for Outlook also has detailed instructions on how to add a Yahoo account. You will need to use Yahoo's IMAP or POP settings and may need to generate an "app password" for the third-party client for security purposes.

Please let me know if this helps! And our team remains here, happy to help however possible :)

Thank you for the response. The only concern is missing the notification especially since I do not use the app and do now have a mobile phone associated to my Comcast account.

The key thing was the moving and disassociation the email service with Comcast while maintaining the comcast.net email going forward.

This is one less string that ties be to Comcast as my ISP provider.

@lexubw No need to worry. These communications will begin with an email notification of the upcoming move, followed by an email notification inviting users to accept Yahoo’s terms of service and privacy policy. Additional reminders may be delivered by text message and in-app messages. So you will get more than one email alert before any app alerts are posted.

I received the notification to set up the Yahoo account. You should wait for the notification from what I understand. As far as still receiving email to your Comcast email I have no issues. Any emails from stores and so on are still being sent to my inbox when using the Yahoo App.

If you want to retain @comcast.net you will need to wait for the notification.  Otherwise, you are free to start a new email somewhere else, like outlook.com, gmail.com, etc.

Because you have to accept the Terms of Service and Privacy policy before your comcast email can be migrated, my guess is that you need to wait for the notification.

A lot of people only check email on phones and tablets. Example, my dad only uses his tablet. The Red Verfied logo on the website for Xfinity does not show on phones and tablets. You may want think how to distinguish yourselves from the spammers emails. When you took the mail app away and we had to use a different mobile email app, so went the obvious real logo. I realize you guys make no money hosting email and you actually lose money on it but some of us have been with you from day 1: respectfully you need to take care of us. We lose our comcast.net after all these years, you will see people bail on you. People hate changing email providers more than their home addresses and oddly that is why a lot of folks stay with you guys. Pass this on to Tom's office. Tks

If you log on to the website on your phone it does. Not all people check email that way. I use outlook mobile and the Verfied by Xfinity does not show. I imagine alot of people use the default email apps on their devices and will not see Verfied by Xfinity.  They need to find a way to imbed it into an email better so it shows people its a real email from xfinity.

Has the transition begun yet?  I got what I thought was a scam email, because I've recently received a ton of the xfinity scam emails, so checked with Google AI that said this was happening. Figured it was legit and started by clicking the link.  Then realized it was bogus.

My parents' email was already cancelled, probably from inactivity - hopefully no key connections.
