Why is Comcast selling, or worse, leaking my account user ID?

The way my email works is that I use <vendor>@<mydomain>.net. This allows me to give each vendor/company a dedicated email address that always drops into a single mailbox. What this does is make filtering very easy - it also makes it very obvious when my email address has been sold or leaked.

I've been getting a number of scam emails which have been addressed to xfinity@<mydomain>.net.

No other party uses or knows of this address - only Comcast. What this means is that either Comcast has sold my information, or it has leaked through something like a data breach. This is SPECIFICALLY why my email functions the way it does; it makes this data sharing, or worse: incompetence, very evident.

Hello, @user_6f769f, I'm always checking my emails and making sure my inbox is clean, so I can see how concerning this is. We never spam, sell, or leak sensitive information like your email address. However, we do have a dedicated team that works on fraudulent issues like these. Our Customer Security assurance team is amazing and would be able to properly investigate this concern. I'm honestly really glad they're on our side to help out customers. You can reach them directly on their website, or by using the phone number provided earlier in this thread. Can you please let me know if you're able to access that link?

Same issue - email address that has ONLY been given to Xfinity via their web pages got a "Norton Lifelock Invoice" phishing email this morning.

Xfinity/Comcast definitely has a leak.

I get these (Norton "invoices") CONSTANTLY, delivered to the address that ONLY Xfinity uses. When is Comcast going to stop pretending there wasn't a data leak/breach? What are they going to do about my email being flooded with harmful messages as a result of their actions and/or incompetence in safeguarding customer data?

I got one of the Norton Life Lock emails, too.  My email is used only for here and one other place. I rarely get a spam mail at the address I use for this account, so it's always a surprise when it happens.  I seriously doubt that Comcast had anything to do with this as far as selling information.

Whoever sent it did a very poor job of hiding where it came from.

Hey there, I see above Linda mentioned reaching out to the Comcast Security Assurance Team, this is a specialized team who is able to check your system for any possible security risks or phishing attempts. I do recommend getting in contact with them if you believe any of your information was leaked or accessed. I want to also provide you with a link to review our privacy policy I have posted it below, I hope this helps.  https://comca.st/3PXliwp;
