Using Apple Mail. Can receive email, but not send. The message disappears or the app quits, or I get an error about the account.

Hello @dampapaul, thank you for taking the time to leave a post. Sorry to hear you're experiencing issues sending emails through Apple Mail. Could you let me know what device you're using to access Apple Mail? Have you recently updated your email password? Also, are other email accounts in Apple Mail working properly, or is the issue only affecting your Xfinity email?

@XfinityMarshante We have an iMac 2018 with Ventura 13.7.8  My wife and I each have email accounts, and they both intermittently work and don't work. Sometimes we get the error message box, sometimes the message disappears, but is not shown as sent, and is not received. Sending and receiving using our Xfinity email app works. And, occasionally, hitting send causes the Apple Mail app to simply quit. Thank you for reaching out.

@dampapaul Since your emails are working fine on the Xfinity app, the problem is most likely related to a setting within your Apple Mail application. We can walk you through some steps to get your mail working reliably again.

Check your server settings: It's possible the settings for your Xfinity email accounts in Apple Mail were improperly configured or have become corrupted. Here are the correct IMAP settings for Xfinity email:

Incoming Mail Server: imap.comcast.net (Port 993, SSL ON)

Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.comcast.net (Port 587, SSL ON)

Authentication: Password

Username: Your full Xfinity email address

If the above steps don't work, a fresh start is often the simplest solution. Remove and re-add your account.

Go to your Mac's System Settings (or System Preferences on older macOS versions).

Navigate to Internet Accounts.

Select your Xfinity email account and click the minus sign (-) to remove it.

Reboot your Mac.

Go back to Internet Accounts and click the plus sign (+) to add your Xfinity email account back, making sure to use the correct settings
