Using Apple email app with Xfinity email address

I can see all my Xfinity email folders with their emails on the mail server.

I need to know if I UN & REinstall the Apple email app will I lose all the folders and associated emails in them

Will I NOT see any of them after I REinstall the Apple email app?

Apple tech support said it depends on how Xfinity has provisioned their settings.

   Thank you fir your reply(s).

@No69Zn3ZrYkDNm Thank you for reaching out and bringing this to our attention. If you Uninstall and Reinstall the Apple email app is should not delete the folders for the Xfinity emails. You would also still have the emails that are in the Xfinity email.

Also-----are you running Time Machine to back-up your Mac?  If so, you would be able to restore any folders or emails you had  before.

I do not have a Mac computer. All I have and use is an iPhone SE 2020.

  Timothy A said the following:

“If you Uninstall and Reinstall the Apple email app is should not delete the folders for the Xfinity emails.”

Am I correct in interpreting this as meaning the xfinity folders in the Apple email app?

  TY for your reply.

Since you are only uninstalling and re-installing the app it wouldn't cause you to delete any emails since they are also stored in our server. If you see the emails when you log into our Xfinity Connect site you would have access to them. Was there a particular reason you need to uninstall and re-install the email client?

I can definitely appreciate an app being buggy! The uninstall and re-install is like kicking your busted washing machine for technology. Once you uninstall the app and re-install it let us know if your folders remain. It's important to me that we make sure you've been 100% taken care of!

  You said the following:

”Once you uninstall the app and re-install it let us know IF your folders remain.”

What concerns me is the “IF” in your reply. It sounds like perhaps you are not sure I would see all my folders in my Apple email app after un & reinstalling it.

I appreciate your help but I’d like to be sure that I would see everything after the un & reinstallation.

One again TY for your help and a reply.

I understand your hesitation. Being the program would be the same if you logged in from the website I believe nothing should be removed. Removing the app and reinstalling would help clear any bugs that may cause issues. If you have configured settings for your folders that would display on https://comca.st/3vT9Jxg they should remain the same on our end.

Thank you once again for your help
Unfortunately you will need to supply a clarification of the following:

“If you have configured settings for your folders that would display on https://comca.st/3vT9Jxg they should remain the same on our end.”

I did go to that address which is the same when I go to my Comcast site email but I’m not sure what you mean if I have configured settings for my folders. I did go into the settings but I don’t think I saw  anything relevant to settings for my folders.

Please clarify for me and TY.

Sure thing. When you visit the email portal, are the same folders showing there as they show in your Mail App on your phone?

Yes. There are the same folders in both the portal and the Apple email app.

Unfortunately though two of the responses I’ve received so far read as far as seeing everything on the app after the UN & REinstall

“they SHOULD remain the same on our end “.   &

“let us know IF everything remains the same.”

I certainly understand that those who have responded are doing so with my best interest at heart but I haven’t seen a definite answer that everything will look the same after the email app UN & REinstall.

Thank you for your help and responses.

Gotcha! Ultimately, when the folders are shown via our Connect platform a particular way, if customized at all, they will remain the same once 're-synced' via the application.

Our information will 'feed' from the main Xfinity Connect platform to sync through to the device & app in question. Please let us know what additional questions you may have!

Thank you fir your response.

So if I understand you correctly everything will look the same on the Apple email app AFTER I UN & and then REinstall the email app?

  Correct?

  Thank you.

We cannot say for 100% certain that it won't display any differently if for any reason there has been any particular changes or updates to the actual apple email application or formatting itself.
What I can assure you of, is when re-adding your email address to the application, that all formatting and settings established via the connect platform would be shared with the email application
If you are concerned as to any changes that may have undergone with the email application on the apple product, you may want to contact apple to ensure that nothing would be preventing our information from re-syncing properly.
As on our end here, it's a pretty clear pathway so to speak! We hope that helps!

If you are deleted an existing third-party application or configuration in that application, you should always verify first since some clients remove email and only copy a local copy.

The easiest way to do this is to login in to webmail and make sure Comcast has a copy of your message. If webmail has a copy of all your email when you reinstall the email client it will copy all of the emails back down.

As a side note, you should always choose IMAP and not POP when configuring the third-party application.

Just out of curiosity why should one choose imap over pop when configuring third party apps?

Thanks for taking the time to reach back out and great question. IMAP is more flexible than POP3. POP is simple and only allows downloading messages from your Inbox to your local computer or device. IMAP allows you to see all the folders on the mail server. Basically allowing you full use of your email as you would normally view it from your inbox.

What I have learned is that whenever & whatever I delete from the server trash folder does also  get deleted from my Apple email account trash folder.

A very good thing to know

How do you set up the server to automatically download emails to a certain folder already set up ?

That is a great question!
That would typically have to do with the sync settings within the email application or device that is being utilized! It may be something that you'd manually have to check within the settings there!
