Unable To Recieve Outlook Email But Can Get Webmail

All of a sudden Outlook stopped receiving emails and on my Android as well, but can send emails and can send/receive on Webmail. This is not a issue with settings because it just suddenly happened.  Here is the error:

Task 'xxxxxxx@comcast.net (2): Folder:Inbox Check for new mail.' reported error (0x800CCC0E) : 'Outlook cannot download folder Inbox from the IMAP email server for account xxxxxxx@comcast.net (2). Error: Cannot connect to the server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).

I tried a reboot, cleared cache then Scanpst then Outlook/Safe Mode then verified the settings.  The Repair Option got the following error:

"We couldn't connect to the incoming (IMAP) Server"

After I completed this post I scanned this forum and found multiple posts for the same issue without a specific resolution.

Please help.

Day 11. Still not resolved. Xfinity is getting dumped as soon as fiber reaches our neighborhood in April.

Same here.  Feels like what was occurring last week.

Yes, it is exactly what happened 9 days ago and has been happening, according to this forum, as far back as 2023.

So, don't waste you time and energy trying to call, chat or even post here expecting Xfinity to resolve the issue because it never gets resolved by Xfinity.  It is simply a matter of waiting 4 or 5 days and it will magically get fixed.

The clock is ticking....

Same here.  Really annoying.  Wish they would fix this issue for good.  I am wondering if they are having a DNS issue

@GSearer Welcome to day 1 of the 4-5 day "WAIT" until it magically starts working again.  No, it is not a DNS issue.  From what I read on this Forum it is clearly an IMAP issue.

The clock is ticking....

@user_261f95 Hang in there for a few days as I and others have done and it will magically work again without any intervention by you.

I tried Thunderbird, bypassing MS Office. Not working. I tried using a VPN. I tried my laptop, tethered to my phone's hotspot to completely bypass my ISP. Not working. It's a Comcast/Xfinity issue. 11 days and counting. The inability to speak to a live person for tech support is insane. I tried their "chat". 15 to 20 min between responses. To ask/answer 3 questions takes an hour. [Edited: "Language"]? I spent 30 yrs in IT. If I gave "service" like this, I'd have been fired in a week.

Yup, it broke again...certainly not your VPN....it is Comcast...

@Improviz515 IMHO you are wasting your time trying to get a solution from Xfinity.  If you scan this forum you will see that this is a recurring issue that magically gets restored after 3-5 days.  The issue, as you will see, is an IMAP issue.

What we are all failing to realize is that this is Comcast's way of forcing us all to migrate our email to Yahoo now. Since they deem email to be an unnecessary service on their platform they have farmed us off to Yahoo.

I understand that Comcast sees email as not being cost effective; it's a drain on their resources and revenue but there is a right way and a wrong way to end of life the service. Unfortunately for us Comcast chose the neutron bomb option. They are causing just enough damage by breaking all 3rd party email clients but allowing access via their web client. That breakage combined with the lack of Customer Support is enough to drive us to the new provider aka Yahoo.

Another issue with the way that this is being done is that the migration instructions are not complete. I migrated one Comcast email account to Yahoo but my folder structure didn't migrate the way I thought it would. The folders that I thought would appear under the inbox as I had created them became their own separate entities. This issue caused my Outlook rules to be broken and more importantly, the email in those folders didn't show up in Outlook. I waited 24 hours to see if the issue would resolve itself but it didn't. I tried to contact Comcast Support for assistance since I figured that they would have documentation on this migration issue but was told that it was no longer their problem since the account was migrated. Comcast wouldn't even provide a migration support contact at Yahoo. Contacting Yahoo was worse because without a paid email plan there is no support provided. I ended up having to move the folders to the inbox manually through the Yahoo web client which wasn't hard but was unexpected since I thought this would happen naturally during the migration.

FWIW, Cox and Spectrum have also [farmed] migrated their email service to Yahoo.

Its up!!!  Much to my surprised it only lasted just shy of 24 hours whereas the last time was 4 days.

Now let's see how long it lasts.
