Trash folder is gone

My trash folder in Thunderbird disappeared. Also, when I delete e-mails, they go nowhere as there is no trash folder. I never deleted the trash folder or directed that deleted e-mails be permanently deleted. I hope someone can help. I've been trying for about 2 weeks to resolve this problem.

Could you start by confirming this is the Comcast email address you are having issues with? If so how are you currently accessing your Comcast email are you going directly to Xfinity.com?

musiclady911 I am sorry for any confusion but between the two questions there should have been ample characters to reply. So now that I know you are using your Comcast email address and not a Gmail or some other email I would need to know how you are getting to that email. Are you going to Xfinity.com on a computer or maybe a tablet? Do you have it set up on your phone to get your email? Once we have more information we can better assist you.

The "pencil and Paper" thing is not working!

Please describe what you mean by "not working" when you select the "pencil and paper" icon.

Regrettably the icon is a pale grey that is active even though it does not look active. Go ahead and select it. If a red circle-slash appears when you try to select the icon it means that DMs are disabled in your user Profile. To enable them go to your Profile Settings, clear the "Opt Out from Direct Messaging" checkbox, click Save, and try again.
