The certificate for domain 'imap-east.ge.xfinity.com' is untrusted.

All day (9/12/2022), the Comcast mail system has been error-prone. In most cases, it just times out and suggests trying later (not an option for me). Now it seems that a problem is with a certificate.

The message is:  "The certificate for domain 'IMAP-east.ge.xfinity.com' is untrusted."  So, where do we go with this creaky system?  Tests run from an iPhone or an IPad do not reveal a problem, but the laptop browser version (Google, Firefox, Edge) definitely does have a problem.

What can I do to identify the problem, and what is Concast doing to fix the problem?

My IPad has the “timed out” every so often, but tonight it keeps getting the same error message as in your post.
Comcast please fix.

@user_624cf1 This is why you should always have a Gmail Account. I have both in my outlook and the Comcast

sends are bouncing back. Switch to my Gmail Profile and got my work done in minutes.

I just tried calling Comcast support and I know, how foolish of me.  But hope springs eternal, eh?  After 23 minutes on the phone and speaking to one rep who was the wrong person to speak to, the excruciating Comcast "wait music" was briefly interrupted by a message that they are working on an email problem.  I then hung up.

What also gets me is when you call Comcast for support, you have to wade through about 45 seconds of how great their reward program is and would I like to sign up for NFL Red zone or something else.   With so much known dissatisfaction about Comcast support, the obvious question is:  Why does it continue?

@RSCHILLER Comcast does 3 things. Aggressive Advertising, jacking up prices and poor service & the worlds worst support

from Manila, Philippines. The only stateside support is the Cancelation Dept where they learn to plead & will haggle.

Call during Business Hours and ask for cancellations and you will get an American on the Phone immediately.

@Kevinp1956 Could you please send our team a direct message with your full name and full address? Our team can most definitely take a further look at this issue.

To send a "Direct Message" to Xfinity Support:

Click "Sign In" if necessary

Click the "Direct Messaging" icon or https://comca.st/3EqVMu7

Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon

The "To:" line prompts you to "Type the name of a person". Instead, type "Xfinity Support" there

 - As you are typing a drop-down list appears. Select "Xfinity Support" from that list

 - An "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line

Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window

Press Enter to send it

See https://comca.st/3KQF8q9 for an example.

I no longer work for Comcast.

Same thing with me. I'm just about ready to toss in the towel with Comcast email! It is SO slow and unreliable. My wife uses gmail and says the Comcast email doesn't hold a candle to this antiquated "horse and buggy" of a system  SOOOOOO frustrating!!!

@user_d60b02 Nothing could be truer. I use both and Gmail is far superior. I deal with Square Trade a Division of All State Insurance

and they cannot get an e-mail through Comcasts Servers, so I had to reset my Account to my G-mail or I could not accesses it, because

of the need to confirm access to my Account they do by e-mail. When they send to a Comcast.net addy it never comes though.

Same thing here! This is the most unreliable email system I've ever dealt with. Super slow all the time. My wife says its the "horse and buggy" of email systems compared to Gmail which she LOVES. I'm so close to just bailing on this altogether. I don't have the patience anymore. SOOOO frustrasting

I am getting it as well. I hope someone from the company reads this as it's impossible to get a human to respond to the phone or a text. Very upsetting as it's such an important communication tool.  Not to mention expensive.
