Switching to Yahoo email

There seems to be a lot of confusion and frustration regarding the switch from Xfinity to Yahoo email. When I searched to see if it's a requirement to switch, all of the info I read says no. When I'm on Xfinity's FAQ page, it says it's not required. What is going on?

It is not a requirement to switch, but if you don't switch you will eventually lose your @comcast.net email address.

user_o6bg5p Thank you for stopping in with your questions regarding the transition to Yahoo email for our Comcast.net email customers.  There are three options I can break down for the transition.

Option 1: Accept Yahoo TOS

  • Retain your @comcast.net email address.
  • Continue using your email using Yahoo Mail with enhanced spam protection and calendar integration.
  • Gain access to 20 GB storage, mobile access, and AI-powered features.

Option 2: Export your data

  • Use the Xfinity Email Data Transfer Tool at export.comcast.com to download your emails and contacts or simply close your account.
    • This is ideal if you plan to switch to a different email provider.

Option 3: Do nothing

  • Choose not to upgrade and continue accessing your comcast.net email through the Xfinity Mail platform.

Hello -  The Yahoo page indicates that if we don't move to yahoo to close the account (see below), and I moved one of my emails over to yahoo.  There are ads that you can't even delete unless you purchase an upgrade to yahoo.

So now, I have one (comcast.net) email on the yahoo platform.  What happens if I don't move the others that I have?   I really would rather have all my emails on Comcast/xfinity but I thought at one point it said I would lose those accounts if they were not moved to yahoo.     Please confirm that I will not lose my comcast.net emails if I do not move them to yahoo.

What if I don't want my Comcast.net email to move to Yahoo Mail?

If you don't want to move your email to Yahoo Mail, you can export your data and close your email account. Visit https://export.xfinity.com/ to get started.

There has been a lot of confusion in the last few days about the migration.  Originally we were told that if you didn't migrate, you would end up losing your @comcast.net email address.  Recently, however, that information changed to you don't have to migrate.  We are not sure what the reasoning is for the change at this time, but we're hoping to get some clarification regarding this.

So, at the moment, we can assume that it's not mandatory to migrate.

user_r2k7bg Currently I am not seeing any mention that if you don't migrate by a certain time you will no longer be able to access your comcast.net email.  For now, we will continue to support non migrated email accounts the same we do today. I cannot find any details stating that if you do not migrate to yahoo that you will lose the comcast.net email address. I cannot confirm that won't change and you may have to eventually export your info to another provider in the future if you don't want to use Yahoo. But as of now there is no announcement stating you need to migrate or lose access.
