Suddenly getting "Cannot send email..." message only on iPhone

Since this morning while trying to send mail on my iPhone I've gotten this message:

"Cannot send email...The connection to the outgoing server "smpt.comcast.net" failed. Additional outgoing mail servers can be configured..."

I can receive mail but cannot send--and that's only on my iPhone. My iPad is not affected.

I've not changed anything in my email settings. What is causing this?

UPDATE: a friend guided me to an obscure tab inside the "Passwords and Accounts" area. I activated it and outgoing email works.

Still have no idea why this happened or why it doesn't affect my iPad.

Hi, thanks for the update. I’m having this exact issue now with my iPad and with my iPhone as well. Could you share what tab you switched on that fixed the problem? I would be really grateful. Thanks!
