Spam folder problem

Two problems:

1. Why doesn't Thunderbird receive messages that comcast places in the spam folder? This is a serious problem since I do not read email with a browser. For example, a group of us has been getting emails for years from a certain email address. Several weeks ago (months??) I noticed I was no longer receiving those emails - I accidentaly discovered them in the spam folder via a browser. (I wonder how many emails have been lost over the years because I did not know the spam folder is hidden. Why is the spam folder hidden?)

2. Couple of weeks ago, I configured the Spam Filter on comcast email like this:

Override Security Filters - Allow spam and potentially harmful messages in your Inbox.
However, once again, this morning I saw a non-spam email message in the spam folder.  So what does "Override Security Filters" mean?

PS: Yesterday, I  saw this forum post  from

titled "
How to: Prevent email from going to the spam folder"

Which says to add a recipient's email address to my address book and
"In most cases, this new feature will give you the ability to allow those senders to go to your inbox instead of your spam folder."

What does "In most cases" mean"?

Hello @tashanet. I hope all is well. I'd love to help with your spam email concerns, and dig further into this for you. I rely on my email for everything, so I can see how this could be a problem. Please send me a PM with your name and address so I can assist further.

To send me a private message, click on my name, "ComcastKorie," and then click send a message.

@tashanet

I wondered the same thing, and I am using IMAP on Thunderbird, so I went looking at my Thunderbird settings.  Here's what I did.

  1. I highlighted the account in the left pane and then clicked on Account Settings in the upper right.
  2. In the left pane I chose Junk Settings.
  3. Under Junk Settings in the right pane I made sure I put a check mark everywhere.
  4. And in the Destination and retention box I made sure my comcast.net address was entered.

Since I have quite a few other email addresses in Thunderbird, I made sure they all were set up this way.  And this works for me with all of my email addresses.  Maybe this will work for you.

Thanks!  I did have Thunderbird configured like you said and Thunderbird does send junk to the Junk folder. But Thunderbird does not retrieve spam from comcast's Spam folder.  I do not know why this is.

If you're getting the spam mail in your Junk folder on Thunderbird it's doing it's job, just not deleting the spam from your webmail folder.  Eventually the spam in webmail will delete.
