Since migration to Yahoo, inbound mail delayed 6–26 minutes at Comcast inbound servers (resimta), not at Yahoo

Since my @comcast.net mailbox was migrated to Yahoo Mail, mail from large senders (Gmail, Experian/Salesforce) is delayed 6 to 26 minutes. I've checked the full headers. In every case, the delay is before Comcast's inbound servers (resimta-*.sys.comcast.net) accept the message. Once Comcast accepts it, the handoff to Yahoo takes about one second. Mail from a small private mail server is not delayed. This looks like deferral or throttling of large senders at Comcast's inbound MX, which is still Comcast's system rather than Yahoo's.

All times are UTC on Oct 6, 2026:

Sender Sender queued Comcast accepted Delay Xfinity-QID
Experian 17:38:00 18:03:44 25m 44s E9VrxrSnfOB5nE9Vwx0obD
Gmail 17:40:22 17:47:12 6m 50s E9Fpx6RPjX9qGE9FvxvuDO
Experian 17:11:06 17:16:56 5m 50s E8mdxxmloDfkcE8mexHEz0
Small private server (control) 17:39:52 17:39:55 3s E98txQZcwZk49E98txxvpd

The 25-minute Experian message carried a verification code that expires in 20 minutes, so it was useless by the time it arrived. Time-sensitive mail from banks, brokerages and credit bureaus is affected.

Could someone from the email engineering or postmaster team check the inbound SMTP logs for these QIDs and see why the first delivery attempts were deferred? I'm happy to send account details by private message.

If you've transitioned to Yahoo! Mail, there isn't anything we can do to help you.  You'll need to get in touch with Yahoo Support.

The Yahoo support team can be contacted at 1-866-764-7650.

Thanks for responding. This one isn't a Yahoo issue, though. The delay happens before the mail reaches Yahoo, on Comcast's own inbound servers.

Mail to @comcast.net addresses still enters through Comcast's servers (resimta-*.sys.comcast.net, which stamp the Xfinity-QID), and those servers then forward it to Yahoo. The headers show:

  • Sender to Comcast resimta: 6–26 minutes of delay
  • Comcast resimta to Yahoo: about 1 second

Yahoo never sees the message until Comcast hands it over, and Yahoo has no access to Comcast's inbound logs or the Xfinity-QIDs. Only Comcast can check why resimta-a2p-651040.sys.comcast.net deferred the message with QID E9VrxrSnfOB5nE9Vwx0obD for 25 minutes.

Could an official Xfinity employee or the Digital Care team please take a look or escalate this to email engineering? Thanks.
