Required to change password, now can't send email

I received an email from Xfinity that said I needed to change my password, which I did. I updated this password for my email on my computer and my phone. However, I could then only receive email, not send it. I went back into my email settings and changed the password for the outgoing mail server. After I clicked "Save" a box popped up and said "Verifying Server Settings" and then the password went back to the previous password. How do I get it to change? I'd like to be able to send emails.

Thank you.

PS: I've never had a more frustrating experience trying to get help. You guys make it unbelievably difficult.

Thank you. Each pull down menu did not include the word email and when I typed it in it said it didn't exist, so I had no idea what to do. I hoped someone would take pity on me and do what you did. I appreciate it.

The email you received, was it an Xfinity verified email?  It would have had the red Xf next to it if it was verified.  Did you click on a link within the email to change your password?

No, I went into my Xfinity app, where it told me the same thing. I changed my password in the app.

I just looked through my email and still have about 7 emails from Xfinity in there. None of them have a red Xf anywhere on them.

In re-reading the email about changing my password I realized there was a phone number to call if I had problems. It was a nightmare trying to get through to a real person. When I finally got one and explained what was going on, I realized that I could just delete the email account and re-enter it. Fixed it myself. Can't believe I didn't think of that before.

Thank you for your help.
