Recent changes to displayed mailboxes and folders in webmail ?????

I am noticing that recently some changes were probably made by Comcast in Comcast webmail (email using the browser).  I have 4 email addresses. I see the following that was not there before and I did not do:

- one of my email addresses has SPAM folder; another one has a JUNK folder (no spam folder)

- one of my email addresses has a SENT folder; another email address has a SENT folder (marked with an arrow on its left) and one more SENT folder (marked with a folder symbol on its left)

- one of my email addresses has a DELETED message folder, the other one doesn't have that.

Did anyone else notice these inconsistent looking changes?

Why do some email addresses have 2 SENT folders, what's the difference between them? I did not create any of them.

Which messages go to the DELETED messages folder vs. the Trash folder (for email addresses that now suddenly have this new folder)?

Also under My Folders I have new folders that I never created (like one for each of my email addresses, one for sent messages and for deleted messages).

Any reason or explanation for what I am seeing? Who makes these changes that I was not informed about and why?

@haz10 Thank you for bringing this concern regarding the naming of your individual email folders to our attention here at the Xfinity Community Forums. It's very possible the naming conventions for folders like 'Junk' or 'Spam' could just be a change in wording based on how old the email address itself was when created. Was the email address with the 'Junk' folder created before the email address with the 'Spam' folder?

As for the 'Deleted' folder, this could have been created as a result of using the 'Recover Deleted Items' function in the Trash folder, for example.

Thanks for your quick reply. All my email addresses and relevant folders created for them by default were created in 2014, at the same time. What I noticed and described, was not there before. I never used the "Recover Deleted Items" function, in fact I didn't even know that it exists. I seldomly use webmail as it has limited functionality, but lately I looked at it as I had issues using the Apple mail client due to changes made by Comcast in their configuration requirements. That's when I noticed these strange changes that I did not make.

@haz10 Are you able to share an image or general description of where these additional folders are showing on the left side list of your email (Inbox, Draft, Sent, Trash, etc.) Are you able to remove or re-arrange said folders or are they causing any type of issue?

Sorry, I don't quite understand the question. The display I believe is the same with any browser. There is a "panel" on the left side that displays mailboxes and folders. It has a lot of "personal" info that would cause the Forum not to display it. I would hope that you also have access to Comcast webmail and you can take a look at it.

I am asking the questions because I would like to understand what I see: how did these folders just appear, what are they for. I would not delete or try to move anything before I understood why they are there,  which email gets into them, etc. I did some superficial experimenting and it seems that the email address that has 2 sent mail folders uses one sent mail folder for mail sent from webmail and the other folder for mail sent using the iphone. I am not sure if that's the case, by no means did I create these folders.  Obviously answers can be provided only by those who are familiar with Comcast's webmail.

@haz10 I certainly appreciate the concern, but please know no question is a 'waste of time' for our team here at the Xfinity Community Forums. We are here to help!

With that being said, requesting specific records of folder changes within the email program or website is not a type of log I believe we have available to us. You may consider reaching out to our Customer Security Assurance team at 1-888-565-4329 from 8:00am - 12:00am EST, 7 days a week for this type of information, but again, even they may not have specific logs detailing email folder changes or activity.

Thanks. Since I didn't make these changes, I assumed that they were "generic" changes made by Comcast (maybe part of some unannounced webmail enhancement release), changes made for ALL webmail users.  If so, if anyone on this Board who reads the posts experienced the same could possibly chime in and maybe confirm that they have seen these changes and/or explain the reasons for them. By no means was I looking for any logs or for anything "specific" to my folders, so that's an unfortunate misunderstanding. Regardless, thanks for attempting to help.

@haz10 I checked my personal email, and I didn't see any new folders on my end. However, I only have one email that I use. I did check my wife's, and it looked the same. For the emails that have 2 sent folders, do you get more info when you hover over them with the mouse?

Thanks. I included a screen capture of the "panel" for one of the email addresses that has 2 sent mail folders, a deleted messages folder and a trash folder. When I hover over the sent folders, I only see the total number of messages in the folder and the number of those unread. I cannot figure out why certain sent messages ended up in one sent folder vs. others which ended up in the other sent folder.

By any chance do any of your devices have settings for IMAP selected or are they all set for POP3? If accessing your email from a separate mail client, there is the possibility that some emails are being saved directly to the cloud while others are being saved to the device itself. If you've updated the settings, and it uploaded additional emails to the cloud, then it may have duplicated/created a separate folder based on the setting through Apple Mail. It appears that most 3rd party email clients will have a separate option to select which folder sent emails are stored in, and then there's always the default cloud server that we provide to store emails in. What I reported in this thread applies exclusively to webmail (Comcast email through a browser) and has nothing to do with the Apple mail client (which BTW does NOT display two SENT folders, a deleted messages and trash folder, etc.).

All my email addresses are configured as POP 3 for incoming mail. I do not know too much about how email works across devices, but I assumed that POP3 has nothing to do with outgoing (SENT) emails and that is configured for the email address not the device..... Please correct me if I am wrong. 

For accessing emails I use an Apple iMac with the Apple client, a Windows PC only with Comcast webmail (using the browser) and an iphone.

What I reported here is really not an "issue". It is more a question about changes that happened in Comcast email (webmail) that I do not understand and was not informed about.

NO, what I questioned here, doesn't appear to have anything in common with any other issues.

Again, I appreciate you trying, but I do not want to spend my time and your time guessing. This is not vital and unless there is someone who knows what changes might have been done to webmail that caused this to happen and understands the implications of these changes, no need to pursue.  Thanks.
