Receiving emails

I reset my Comcast password when my email address was spoofed. I have been using both the web browser and the Mozilla Thunderbird client.

Now, I can send emails frm those mailboxes but I am not able to receive emails sent to the Comcast address in either. I have already unchecked forwarding and there are no filter rules set which would block the emails. I’ve followed all the basic steps with no luck - what’s my next step?

Should I elect forwarding to my Gmail address until I get this fixed? some of the emails concern bill paying and I need to keep them current. Will forwarding remove them from the server, where I keep copies of emails received?

You shouldn't have a problem sending within webmail.  Are you getting any error messages?

Did you change your password in Thunderbird?

@Again Thanks for the reply. I've received a number of messages that I'm not connecting to the IMap server.

I changed the password within XFinity

Further: I changed the password on the XFinity website, which accepted the update. When I go to my Thunderbird client and attempt to download email messages, I get an alert that the IMap server does not recognize my password, and there are radio buttons to retry (which is unsuccessful) or to change the password. I enter the new password which XFinity accepted, with the same result - it is not recognizing my email address and password.

If you've changed your password for the website, you also need to change it within Thunderbird, otherwise, you won't be able to receive or send in Thunderbird.

In Thunderbird, click on Tools/Preferences

Then in the left pane click on Privacy & Security

In the right pane scroll down to Passwords/Saved Passwords...

In the box that pops up click on Show passwords

Find your old password for your email account and highlight it

Click on Remove

X out of that box

Close the Preferences tab and close Thunderbird

Restart Thunderbird and when it asks for your password, type in your new password
