Problems with email access abroad and using VPN

I am traveling abroad. My email is set up in Outlook. Likewise, I had it set up on my iPhone. I noticed that for the past few months, my email has not been coming to my iPhone. Then, when I travelled abroad, my email stopped coming in via Outlook. While I can access my email directly from the website, I need to access it when I am not on the website or via my phone.  I have removed accounts, added them back, etc I need to use VPN while abroad. I do have wifi access, and all other applications and systems work fine.

Thank you for reaching out and creating a new post. I hope you are doing well today. I see you are traveling, and you've noticed you aren't getting your emails to your third-party applications on your iPhone and Outlook. I understand you can access them directly on our website, but having them directed to Outlook, for example, would be more helpful. My initial assumption is that this is a security measure based on your location, even with the VPN. Is it only your Xfinity emails that aren't coming through? Any specific error messages or codes that you see, or just mainly not getting them updated?

Thank you for responding. I am well, thanks for asking.

I will do my best to answer as clearly as possible:

  • It happens to both my Comcast/Xfinity accounts and 1 of my Gmail accounts on my PC but only the Comcast/Xfinity on my iPhone. 
  • I don't get an error message, per se. I do get the dialog box to enter my password, which I do. But the dialog box keeps popping up.
  • The emails don't come to Outlook on my PC when the VPN is on. You understood the concern clearly--thank you for paraphrasing to affirm.
  • The emails don't come to Outlook on my iPhone, with or without the VPN---doesn't matter.

Interestingly, the iPhone problem has been going on much longer.  the PC issue seems to be related to the VPN. I don't really have the issue when the VPN is off. But since I am traveling, I am trying to keep my system safe and therefore need the VPN on.
