possible email scam?

My wife responded to an email saying - Your XFINITY Mail Version is outdated ... Upgrade to Mail Version 12.9.  (click on)  Verify Here to avoid account closure.  I think she may have installed a virus.  Can anyone verify and help?

It most likely is a scam.  Comcast doesn't send messsages like that.  To see if an email is legit, see here------------------

To  report a phishing scam see here and scroll down to" Report Phishing Emails"---------

In the meantime run a complete scan of yor system with your A/V software to see if it finds anything.

Unfortunately, scammers are extremely difficult to track down.  They change email accounts and addresses constantly.  You should find this of interest on the subject----------

Here is more feed-back - This morning, 1 day after the Hack, we started getting calls from our Contact List, and all of them were being asked to HELP.  Yes, they are now being Hacked.  Next, I saw our Address Book is now Empty, and worst yet - our backup sets all have Empty Address Books.  Yes, we had Backup set to Automatic.  If we had changed Backup to Manual quickly enough, that would have allowed a Restore.  So this Note is to  - Warn others of Good precautions.  Also, I had a copy of most of my email addresses in a document, so that will allow Rebuilding most of my Address Book.  I will probably need to Change my Email address, and who knows what else.  *** I Hate It, and don't want others to go thru this ***
