Please help! My email was hacked, how do I recover auto forwarded emails?

Yesterday morning, I accidentally clicked on a link from an email saying I had a voicemail which turned out to be phishing. Unfortunately, this must've given the hacker access to my xfinity email account, which I didn't realize until a few hours later when some of my contacts told me they had received a strange email from me (from my xfinity email address).

I quickly changed my password, but I still wasn't receiving any new emails. This morning, I discovered that the hacker had added a "personal email" to my contact info which was NOT my email account, and they had set up auto forward to send all my new emails to their account! I have figured out how to stop auto forward, but I'm not sure how I can recover the emails that were forwarded to their account, because they are not showing up in my inbox, sent, or any other folders that I can see.

I'm able to receive new emails now, but how do I recover all of the emails that I was supposed to receive but were forwarded to the hacker's email account instead???

Is there anything else I can do about this situation? Thank you!

Hi, @user_260131. There may be a setting for you to be able to remove the autoforward. As far as the emails already sent that you cannot view are concerned, we may not be able to get those back. To ensure your account is protected, I'd reach out to our CSA (customer security assurance) team for assistance. They can be contacted here 1-888-565-4329. That would be the first step I'd recommend to make sure everything is secure on your account. They are experts in handling situations like this.

I have called 3 times as I was hacked also, each time was told I had to talk to security level 3, they would call in 24 hours, nope, then 24-48 hours, nope, then I asked to speak to a supervisor, told they would call me in 20 minuites, 3 hours later =, still waiting. They cleaned out my address book, and all past e-mails. Not sure how you go about getting any help.

Good afternoon,

Unfortunately, any emails forwarded are bounced off of our server to the forwarded email. The only way for our server to receive a copy of it is if the option of "save a copy of forwarded email" is checked. If it is not, then the comcast.net servers do not receive a copy. Any forwarded email are not recoverable by Comcast. The only way to receive copies of the forwarded emails is to request the senders to send it again.

@user_139818, that is a great question! We would be happy to help! Are you trying to save it from a third-party program like Microsoft Outlook? Or just straight from the Xfinity Website?

My email was also hacked and I don’t know how to stop auto forward or how to start receiving emails again.
