Paste into HTML email

I am not able to cut from documents, etc. and paste content into XFinity email when in the HTML mode.  (If I switch to text I can paste, and then I can switch back to HTML to finish composing a message).

I noticed this was a topic in past forums, about 2017, but the threads are locked, and certainly the software is different.

Does anyone know why this is happening and if there is a solution?

I started experiencing the same problem over the past couple of days.  Very annoying and inconvenient.  I have had some luck with using the Shift and Insert keys, but sometimes that messes up the text in the e-mail I'm sending and this shouldn't be a necessary step anyway.

Try going into your email settings then go to COMPOSE and then under FORMAT select............................ HTML and plain text

That's what my settings currently are.

That setting causes emails you compose in HTML and send from the webmail editor to contain two sections: a plain text section, and a separate HTML section. The purpose is to allow devices that can't render HTML (not common these days) to still see the plain text portion of the message. It won't allow you to directly edit a message's HTML in the webmail editor.

BruceW -

I understand that.  I used to code, haven't in a few decades, have no need to go into the HTML.  I'm talking about simple word processor text and cutting and pasting an occasional link/image into the body of text.

More often than not, the "paste" option is not available when I right click.  The only reason I leave the setting on HTML/plain text is that I can paste into plain text and then switch to HTML and the pasted object remains.

This is a recent - last month - issue.  I've been using Comcast's mail editor for several years and never experienced this issue before.

I don't use the webmail editor very much so I don't know how it worked in the past, but I do know that a number of changes were made recently, moving the Save Draft button to an odd location, for instance; see https://forums.xfinity.com/t5/Email-Web-Browsing/Appsuite-webmail-v7-10-0-1-3/m-p/3348622#M219257.

I do notice that now, in the webmail v7.10.3-0-54 Compose window using Firefox, I can paste if I select Options / Plain Text. If I select Options / HTML things get a little weird. If I try to right-click paste in the very first line, or anywhere in or above the last line I've entered, that seems to work. But below the last line I've entered, right-click "paste" isn't available. Odd.

Pasting with Ctrl-V always works, but the pasted text appears at the end of the last line I've entered, never below it.

For images, does the "Insert image" toolbar item work for you? And for links, does the "Insert/edit link" toolbar item (only visible when the compose window is Maximized, see "missing items in shrink mode" in https://forums.xfinity.com/t5/Email-Web-Browsing/Appsuite-webmail-v7-10-0-1-3/m-p/3291863#M214496 ) work for you?

Until just the past few days you could simply copy an image from some other website and paste it into the body of an e-mail you had composed.  Right Click "Copy Image" of the image you wanted to transfer and then Right Click "Paste" into the body of your e-mail.  With the recent "enhancements" to the e-mail system you no longer have the option to Paste into the body of your composed e-mail.  This issue, along with a number of other recent changes, has prompted a number of discussions on this message board.  Would have been better to leave well enough alone and am hopeful this can be fixed to function as it used to function and as intended.

It appears to me that whether you can 'paste' or not may depend

on which server you happen to connect to. Some can do it, others

cannot. It's the luck of the draw, and very frustrating.

Having the same issue. No way to paste into the body of the email. Xfinity Connect has been extremely aggravating recently with this  as well as repeated forced Password resets.
