OUTLOOK NOT SYNCING

Suddenly my emails in Outlook on my desktop are not syncing.   I googled how to deal with it but nothing works.   Any suggestions?

Thank you.
I still get my emails on my iPhone and iPad.    But it is not syncing on my desktop.    I have clicked “Repair” but when it tells me to add my password it keeps saying “Login Failed”.   It’s very frustrating.

@user_wefhde - It sounds like you're experiencing some frustrating issues with your Comcast email syncing to Outlook on your desktop. I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you've had, and I'd love to see what we can do to help! Our team is awesome to work with because we'll do everything we can to review and resolve issues quickly. Here's a breakdown of troubleshooting steps, combining common solutions and addressing the specific "Login Failed" error:

1. Verify Account Settings & Password

Check for Password Changes:

- Recent Changes: Have you recently changed your Comcast email password? If so, Outlook needs to be updated with the new credentials.
- Xfinity Account Security: Log in to your Xfinity account online. Check if any security settings might be blocking third-party app access to your email. Look for options related to "App Passwords" or "Third-Party App Access." You might need to generate a specific app password for Outlook to use.

Confirm Account Type:

- IMAP vs. POP3: Ensure you're using the correct protocol (IMAP is generally recommended for better syncing).
- Server Settings: Double-check the incoming and outgoing mail server settings in Outlook. They should typically be:
-- Incoming (IMAP): imap.comcast.net
-- Outgoing (SMTP): smtp.comcast.net

2. Re-add Your Account to Outlook

Remove Existing Account: In Outlook, go to File > Account Settings > Account Settings. Select your Comcast email account and click Remove.

Add New Account:
- Go to File > Add Account.
- Choose Manual setup or additional server types.
- Select IMAP and click Next.
- Enter your full email address (e.g., [email address removed]).
- Enter your password (or the app password if required).
- Fill in the server settings correctly.
- Click More Settings to fine-tune options like port numbers and encryption (usually TLS/SSL).

3. Troubleshoot "Login Failed" Error

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA): If you have 2FA enabled on your Comcast account, you'll likely need to generate an app password specifically for Outlook. This usually involves creating a unique password within your Xfinity account security settings.

Incorrect Password: Double and triple-check your password entry. Even a single misplaced character can cause login failures.

4. Consider Outlook Repair

Run Outlook Repair Tool (Scanpst.exe): This tool can help fix minor issues within your Outlook data files. Search for "Scanpst.exe" in your Windows search bar to locate and run it.

5. Check for Outlook Updates

Ensure Outlook is Up-to-Date: Outdated versions of Outlook can sometimes have compatibility or syncing issues. Check for and install any available updates for your Outlook software.

If the problem persists:

Let us know! We may be able to provide more specific guidance or troubleshoot from our end if necessary.

Microsoft Support: If the issue seems specific to Outlook, you can contact Microsoft Support for assistance.

I hope this comprehensive guide helps you resolve the Comcast email syncing issue in Outlook! Let me know if you have any further questions, and we remain here to support you however we can :)

I am also having the same issue as of 2/5/25 - my outlook all of sudden stopped syncing.  I followed the steps above and still did not sync properly.  It adds back my account but will not update past 2/5/25 at 8:12am.  I thought that it was an issue with space as you used to limit storage but I deleted a large portion today and it still has not come through.  My iphone is working correctly and syncing properly.  I have checked my comcast account and all is in order.  I have a microsoft windows 11 snapdragon processor.  Please advise.  Thanks.

user_b7pbzc Thanks for your comment! Is this happening with all of your emails or just the Comcast email? Are you able to receive and send emails through our Xfinity Website?

I have seen this happen when LDAP on the backend takes a partial fit, but it seems apple link is not affected by it as it still works ok on my phone. and of course, webmail is working without issues. So it is not a full server crash or a firewall misconfiguration. It is not something we can fix on the Customer Side. I did all the steps for giggles. Xfinity uses a backend similar to what I use to work with personally 10 years ago, so I have a general idea of it. it is not a hard fix either. I did stop getting outlook mail around late afternoon early evening yesterday.

Turned off two-step verification and sync resumed.

@user_3ddcf5 How do you turn off two-step verification?
