outgoing email

As a result of the comcast breach my wife changed her comcast password.  Everything is working fine (mail on phone and comcast internet website) except for using mac mail for her comcast emails.  She can receive emails but she can't sent them.  The outgoing mail server SMTP account says comcast out (offline). Her user name and password are correct, the host name is smtp.comcast.net and we have checked automatically manage connection settings.  Any idea why she can't send comcast emails through her mac mail?

Hey there @ric_erdheim thanks so much for taking the time and reaching out on your wife's behalf!  Are all of these settings done in Mac Mil, and has she attempted to log in directly to Xfinity.com and check email there as well?  Is she able to send direclty via Xfinity My Account, but not through Mac Mail?

Yes that is correct.  she can send and receive comcast mail on her phone and internet site.  she can receive emails on mac mail but not send them.  The settings say comcast outgoing is offline.

@ric_erdheim Thank you for your reply. You may want to try removing it completely and then setting it back up to see if it resolves the problem. Here is a link on how to set the email account back up in case you need it (https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/configuring-comcast-email-mac?view=app).

Thanks for your response.  If I remove it and then set it back up will my wife lose any of the data she currently has on Mac mail?

To be honest, I'm not 100% on that, but I wouldn't think it would since the emails and folders are saved on the server. It would just be relinking it back to the Mac mail.

Is there someone else in your office you can check with.  I don't want to delete and reinstall the account if my wife is going to lose her information.
