not getting Google Groups emails in Comcast

This has happened periodically before and seems to be happening again. For much of today I haven't been getting Google Groups posts in my Comcast email; Comcast seems to be blocking them. I can send email to Google Groups and see the posts online through the Groups site, but they don't come into my email. Is there a problem?

@richl12

Good afternoon,

Reviewing our logs I am not seeing any blocks or issues with delivery. I do see a few that may have gone to the spam folder. Have you checked for the emails in the spam folder? otherwise we are not blocking emails from google or their services. Is it also possible that there is a setting not enabled that would generate an email?

@XfinityCSAEmail There's nothing in my spam folder (I have my spam settings off anyway). I am now starting to get a few emails from Google Groups, so it looks like the problem might be at their end. I've posted to their forum as well, but haven't heard anything back yet. Thanks.

I manage a Google Group of about 300 members. I send out emails to the Group several times a week. The Group emails to Comcast email addresses frequently come up missing: to the same individuals, sometimes they go to the Spam folder, sometimes they are received properly, sometimes they simply disappear. There is no consistency. I have spent countless hours trying to troubleshoot this problem. I find numerous posts in your Xfinity Forum identifying the same problem. Xfinity techs only seem to provide a few speculations and then the thread is closed before resolution. This is an ongoing, long term problem (back at least two years) affecting probably 1000s of people. Why is a ticket submitted to your systems people to get this fix. if EYE were to speculate, I'd say it was an overzealous security issue. I will be recommending the several dozen of my Group members to ditch Comcast and use a different client. Is that what you want?

I’m now experiencing the same issue here. Not receiving any email from any of the Google groups I belong to. Nothing going to spam, nothing going to trash, it’s just plain not getting here. Based on the several YEARS worth of posts I see on here… all closed with no apparent resolution… I’m not at all hopeful about this getting fixed.

Like the original poster, I can post to the groups, I can see posts within the groups if I log in to Google… but the emails from them to me have stopped. This holds true for all but one group which is somehow finding its way through… otherwise anything from googlegroups.com never shows up.

Good afternoon,

Checking our logs it shows that you are receiving emails from google servers. little less than 100 in the last 14 days, but none of them appear to be from google groups. This would indicate that google groups is simply not sending to you. There is no block or filter that is preventing google groups emails from being delivered to you on the Comcast side.

Hello, @BearguyVA. I see you are now experiencing similar issues on your end. The CSA team in this thread did not see any known issues. With that said, their contact information is listed at the start of the thread. You can always reach out directly for further assistance.

I’m having this same issue. So is my grandmother. We both use Comcast email and are part of a Google group. For years we’ve been part of this same Google group. Now just in the last few months we’re having this issue of emails sent through the Google group going into our spam folders, even after we keep marking those emails “not spam”, the Google group emails keep going to spam.

I just got off the phone with the most unhelpful Comcast “customer service representative” who told me that I should just override security filter and allow spam and potentially harmful messages into my inbox. This is LUDICROUS, and he said this is the only way to ensure that my Google group emails come through properly…so xfinity Comcast is just admitting that their spam filters are complete garbage and they don’t know enough or care enough to actually try to resolve the issue with Google groups.

Unbelievably frustrating, but also vindicating for me to know that many other Comcast users are having the same problem so at least I’m not experiencing an isolated issue. Really wish Comcast would actually make an effort to fix this.

Good afternoon,

Unfortunately spammers, scammers, phishers, and bad actors have been using google groups to distribute malicious emails at a large rate. Our temporary measure is to allow all emails from google groups to at least be sent to spam at most to ensure we are still delivering their emails. Once google has resolved any issues on their servers with individuals using their free email newsletter/subscription services for malicious purposes their spam filtration will improve and more emails will begin to appear in the inbox rather than the spam folder.
