No email notifications in Outlook or Gmail app
With the Xfinity Connect app going away, I am trying to migrate to another email app on my iphone. I have tried both the Gmail app and the Outlook app. I am having the same issue with both, leading me to think it is a Comcast issue.
The issue: Notifications for new emails do not appear on the app icon. I am talking about the little red circles with numbers in them. After I open the app (Gmail or Outlook), new emails will show up, and then the red circle will show up with the number of new emails. This number will not update until I open the app again and check myself.
I have checked the notifications settings for both email apps. Notifications are turned on, that is not the problem.
Any ideas? thanks.

Try uninstalling the apps, then reinstall. Sometimes the apps become corrupt after awhile. Good luck!

MikeB39A, thanks for the suggestion. I just installed the Outlook app and the problem occurred right off the bat. I'll try deleting and reinstalling anyway.
Kingsby, thanks for the reply. I am running IOS 14.4.2 (the latest) on an iphone XR. Yes, the problem occurs while running in the background, and the setting "Background App Refresh" is set to ON.
