My imap password

I get the notice: IMAP password incorrect. I was able to use my Xfinity password and get my email on my phone, but I get nothing on my iPad.

Good Morning, @user_rfiu4w  Thank you so much for taking the time to reach out regarding the IMAP password incorrect you are getting. I understand how important it is to have access to your email. To fix the "IMAP password incorrect" error for Xfinity email on your iPad, you likely need to remove the email account from your iPad settings and add it back to update the stored credentials. If you use two-step verification, you may need an "app-specific password".

OK, I only have a comcast.net email account and when asked for two step verification, it tells me I can’t use a Comcast’s email. Hum?

Thank you for your reply back, @user_rfiu4w To resolve the "cannot use a Comcast email" error during two-step verification, you must add a non-Comcast email (e.g., Gmail, Yahoo) or a mobile number to your Xfinity account settings. Xfinity requires a backup contact method for security.

@XfinityRichard so you are telling me I need to delete my email account on my iPad and put it back in. I’m still getting the cannot get message on my phone even though I now get emails.

Thank you, @user_rfiu4w You can delete the account.

Delete Account: Go to Settings > Mail > Accounts, tap on your Xfinity/Comcast account, and tap Delete Account.
Add Account Back: Tap Add Account, select Other, and select Add Mail Account.
Enter Credentials: Use your current Xfinity username and password.
Allow Access: Ensure 3rd-party access is allowed in your Xfinity security settings.

OK, I will try this…however I believe my user name is my email, which is @comcast.net…will that works. Perhaps my used name is my name, I don’t know without looking?
