Mail sent to my address arrives, but sender receives 'message undeliverable' mailer daemon notice

People sending email to my Comcast address have been receiving notices from [Edited: "Personal Information"] saying that the message was not delivered... but I am receiving these messages. I tried this myself, sending my Comcast address a message from Gmail. I received the following mailer-daemon reply:

___________________________________________________________________________________

"This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification.

Delivery to the following recipients was aborted after 6.5 hour(s):

  * [Edited: "Personal Information"]

Reason: Temporary Failure"

________________________________________________________

This makes no sense, as I have no connection or account with protonmail at all, and the mail was not addressed to protonmail in any way. Additionally, I did receive the message sent from my Gmail to Comcast... but still got this notice.

What is going on with my Comcast email, and why are people receiving this delivery failure notice when the messages were delivered? This has been going on for months.

Note: the board has apparently edited the email addresses I cited, which are in no way personal information, they are the address for Comcast's mailer daemon, which is not a person, and an administrative address from Protonmail which I have no connection to at all but somehow is involved in the chain of my emails bouncing back 'undeliverable' notices.

In webmail ( https://connect.xfinity.com/ ), check the settings under

(gear icon) / Email Settings / Mail /

Compose / Always add the following recipient to blind carbon copy (BCC)

                                                                     Auto Reply

                                                                     Auto Forward

                                                                     Filter Rules

to make sure that none of these options have been configured to send copies of email to a ProtonMail address.

So, I'll mark this as accepted, because inexplicably that is exactly what the case was - but why?!

I had never even heard of ProtonMail before this, and definitely never set my email to do that - I don't even use the web client, I use Thunderbird. How did this get set to auto-forward my mail to a service I don't use?  And not even to a person's address, to a service address?

Thanks for the help, that solved the mechanical issue, but not why it happened. If you have a guess I'd love to know.
