so i get these emails but are THEY REAL? ...

They are not. "Update" emails that have any sort of "click here or lose your access" link are almost always scams. Do not click! And please edit your post to remove the phony update link.

Check email that claims to be from Comcast/Xfinity with their Connect webmail (https://connect.xfinity.com/) and look for the XFINITY Verified Email logo. See https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/comcast-verified-email for examples of valid logo placement. A logo in the body of the email does not count.

Unfortunately, AFAIK the logo is not present when you view one of their messages in an email app or program. It's only visible when you use their web email site, and only for email sent to a Comcast.net address.

To report a scam email follow the instructions under the "How do I report phishing email sent to or from a Comcast.net email account?" heading on https://spa.xfinity.com/help/email-abuse?faq=spam-email.

Please be aware that there are 2 kinds of responses in this Forum: Replies and Comments. When you Comment on a post by scrolling down to "Comment on this post here...", I am notified of your response. But if you select Reply, I am NOT notified and may not be aware of your response.

user_kbg72f Thank you very much for reaching out to us. Was this email generated from an official Comcast domain?

Make sure you don't fall for phishing scams

  • Be suspicious of any email, chat, text, or call that asks for your personal account information, like usernames, passwords, and account numbers.
  • Only enter credit card info on websites that start with https:// (the “s” means it’s secure).
  • Xfinity will never ask you for password information over the phone, or through text, chat, or email.
  • Xfinity will never ask for billing or payment information through email.
  • Xfinity will never ask you to pay a large amount of money upfront for an uncommon payment method.
    • To verify if a caller, email, or text offer is valid, you can always visit xfinity.com or use Xfinity Assistant.

Follow the steps below to start an investigation:

  1. Do not click links in the suspicious email.
    • Scammers often try to scare you by saying things like, “Your services are being disconnected” or “Your account is past due.”
      • You can check your account anytime at xfinity.com or in the Xfinity app.
  2. Copy the email and its headers into a new email.
    • Headers show the sender, recipient, date, and subject.
      • Some headers like the From, To, and Date headers, are mandatory.
      • Others are optional, but very commonly used, like Subject and CC.
      • Make sure you copy all these details to your new email.
    • Do not forward the message — copy and paste it instead. This will remove the email headers.
    • Write "phishing email" in the subject line.
  3. Send the email to Xfinity's abuse team.
