IPhoneis is not receiving emails

Message is: Cannot Get Mail.  The mail server "imap.comcast.net" is not responding. Verify that you have entered the correct account into in Maill Settings. I have done this and am able to logon to Comcast mail on my PC by using the same login in.

Hi there, @user_5a1yo9 I'm truly sorry for the trouble you are having trying. Can you please try the following on your iPhone.-Richard

  • Delete and Re-Add Your Comcast Account

    • Go to Settings → Mail → Accounts.

    • Tap your Comcast account → tap Delete Account → confirm.

    • Restart your iPhone.

    • Then go back to Settings → Mail → Accounts → Add Account → Other → Add Mail Account.

  • Enter the Following Settings Manually

    • Name: Your full name

    • Email: Your full Comcast email (e.g., yourname@comcast.net)

    • Password: Your Comcast email password

    • Description: Comcast (or whatever you’d like)

Tap Next, then enter these mail server details:

    Incoming Mail Server (IMAP):

    • Host Name: imap.comcast.net

    • Username: your full Comcast email address

    • Password: your email password

    • Port: 993

    • Use SSL: On

    Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP):

    • Host Name: smtp.comcast.net

    • Username: your full Comcast email address

    • Password: your email password

    • Port: 587

    • Use SSL: On

    • Authentication: Password

  • Check “Advanced” Settings

    • Go to Settings → Mail → Accounts → Comcast → Account → Advanced

    • Confirm that Use SSL is turned on, and the Server Port is 993.

  • Test Connection

    • Open the Mail app and refresh.

    • If it still fails, toggle Wi-Fi off and try again using mobile data.

  • If It Still Doesn’t Work

    • Go to https://connect.xfinity.com in Safari — if it works there, your credentials are fine and the problem is local to your phone’s mail configuration.

    • Temporarily disable any VPN or content blockers that may be interrupting IMAP connections.

Have been trying to resolve the same issue for days. I have gone onto my pc to go through the web and select >security >third party and enable. When I go back to iPhone to add the mail account i get pop up "Comcast is Currently Unavailable"!  Its been unavailable for 3 days! What's going on?  What's the fix?

Hi there, @user_ws6plh Thank you for reaching out. I completely understand how frustrating it is to get the “Cannot Get Mail – The mail server ‘imap.comcast.net’ is not responding” message, especially when you can log in fine from your PC. You’ve already done the right steps by checking your login credentials this usually points to a connection or configuration issue between your iPhone’s Mail app and Comcast’s email servers.-Richard

Here are a few things to try that often fix this issue:

  1. Double-check server settings

    • Incoming Mail (IMAP): imap.comcast.net, Port 993, SSL ON

    • Outgoing Mail (SMTP): smtp.comcast.net, Port 587, SSL ON

    • Authentication: Your full Comcast email address and password.

  2. Remove and re-add the account

    • Go to Settings → Mail → Accounts → [your Comcast account]Delete Account.

    • Restart your phone, then re-add the account using the above settings.

  3. Check for iOS or Mail app updates

    • An outdated Mail app or iOS version can cause sync errors.

  4. Network or security app interference

    • If you’re on Wi-Fi, try switching to cellular data temporarily.

    • If you use a VPN, turn it off and test again.

I know it’s inconvenient when you can access email on one device but not another, and I appreciate your patience as you work through this.

user_5a1yo9, Thanks for trying all of the above. Do you get the same error message when you go to this link here: (https://connect.xfinity.com) in Safari on your iPhone as well?
