Inbox vs My Folders

How would you decide if a new folder should go under "Inbox" or "My Folders"? Seems to me the My Folders should be a sub-folder of the Inbox.

@XfinityJamie Hi. Thank you for the quick response.
I am trying to determine the strategic ramifications of creating new folders under "Inbox" vs creating a new folder under "My Folders" in my xFinity mail box.
This question came about when I was reading an article authored by a person who manages "Outlook" on a corporate server. One of his discussions explained how many of the employees at his company didn't understand that the system only backs up emails in folders UNDER the "Inbox" hierarchy and not emails in folders created at the same hierarchy  level as "Inbox".

I use Outlook as my personal email manager. I was wondering the significance of creating folders under Inbox or under My Folders in my xFinity mail box.

Any thoughts?

@JohnLei You are most welcome, we are happy to help in any way we can! To be honest, it's really going to depend on what you are using your email for, and how you would like to organize it. This can vary from user to user. I'm including a link below for you, that is really helpful in creating rules and filters for your email, and is a great resource for managing your folders and the options. Please let me know if you have any follow up questions I can answer for you!

@JohnLei

If you want to create new folders you would put them under your Inbox.  If you're using a third party email client like Thunderbird or Outlook [not outlook.com] any new folder you create in that would show up under My folders.
